ABOUT MOHAMMED ELLYAS LEHRY

Mohammed Ellyas Lehry is a first generation producer - performer - playwright - pedagogue by profession. As a bahujan-muslim citizen of India, his work globally is based in empowerment and visisbilisation. His anti-colonial, anti-caste and feminist performance practice comes from his body which he observes as a record of stories, narratives, knowledge and violence that has been performed upon and brings to the surface these aspects of himself to eager and uneager listeners. He looks for ways to express his often tragic experiences with joy, humour and laughter.

Lehry’s background is in theatre performance, producing, artistic leadership, publicity design, audience development and graphic design. In addition to his decade-long alternative training in the theatre industry, he holds a BA in Theatre Studies, English Literature and Psychology studies (2018) and a MFA in Performance (2024) from the Norwegian Theatre Academy.
